Coconut Oil Is A Healthy Addition To Your Diet

 Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is a food that has been getting an undeserved bad reputation. It is too bad that many people believe it is not a good fat. Coconut is one of the healthiest foods you can add to your diet. There is so many health benefits from it that I can’t think of them all at one time. Coconut oil is one of the most soothing, as well as nourishing things you can apply to your skin. It is used for losing weight, preventing heart disease, cancer, and  diabetes. It strengthens the immune system and beautifies the skin and hair. Coconut oil is cholesterol- and trans fat-free and rich in medium-chain “good fats” that doctors recommend.

Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife

Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is the brand I use. The way it is processed is essential to its taste, texture, color, and aroma. I know it is organic and has a wonderful taste. Not too strong when I am adding it to hot coffee or tea or cooking with it. A subtle flavor adds just the right amount. I use it when frying onions and mushrooms for my breakfast omelet or making oven fried chicken for supper. Every morning I add a teaspoon of coconut oil to my coffee and it makes me feel much better the whole day. I can’t explain it except to say after reading the above book and two others by Bruce Fife, N.D. I realized I  was experiencing the health benefits from it. I wrote a post about it on my blog, Coconut Is One Of Nature’s Healthiest Remedies.

Old Time Quality Cookware Still Made Today

 Pyramid Toaster

The Pyramid Toaster

Quality cookware is hard to find in most discount stores. U.S.buyers are complaining constantly about products not made in the U.S. Bad quality products coming from other countries, especially China. Of course, if the manufacturers insist on them using inferior materials, it is not the fault of the factory workers. That is a whole other story though. There are some products manufactured right here in the U.S. that is getting some attention though. Buying good quality products that last for years is worth every penny you spend. Get out of Walmart and you will find better made products.

Jacob Bromwell is a company that offers excellent quality cookware with a guarantee that is unheard of anymore. A Lifetime Guarantee! One of things that has drawn me to this company is that they manufacture cookware that is considered old fashioned. For my home, which is powered by an alternative energy system, this type of cookware is essential. Each item is made to last and for me that is most important. Not just the electric products either. They also have cookie sheets, flour sifters, food processors and other items for the homemaker. If you like to cook from scratch these are essential items that you need and you need them to last. You probably would not have to replace them ever.

Toaster

Easy to use! Just keep an eye on it!

The pyramid toaster is a useful item, even if you are not using it for camping or live in an off-the-grid home. During power outages when the power is off for a period of time, making your toast on a gas stove burner comes in handy. It may not be the same as an electric modern toaster, but uses no electric and the bread is actually toasted and very good. This is what we have used for toast since 1999. I wrote a post about it, Our Off-The-Grid Toaster on my blog, Homesteading on the Internet.

Another quality cookware product I like is Jason Bromwell’s popcorn popper. Most people use these in a fireplace or over a campfire. And that is a good way to use them. I like to use our popcorn popper on our gas stove burner and it works just fine that way. My husband makes our popcorn on our wood cook stove and it comes out perfect! A nice thing to do in the evening for fun. Check out their site and I am sure you will find a lot of items that you thought were gone forever.

Why I Love My Kindle Fire

kindle fire

My Kindle Fire!

Today marks the first day of my writing reviews for LupeShop. I am pretty excited about that! So I knew I had to write about a really awesome product to make the first post special. As I thought about it, I said to myself, “kat, what is the best product you have bought in this last year?” I did not have to think twice about it. It is without doubt……….the Kindle Fire!

Kindle Fire

The case that my husband bought for my Kindle Fire!

I am sure you have heard of the Kindle Fire, unless you are living out in the wilderness of Alaska. Even there though, I am sure you must have heard of the newest book reader. It is the most powerful of all, due to the fact that you can go online with it. Not only that! But you can download movies and mp3 music files to it! How awesome is that? Amazon Prime members (Prime is a membership on Amazon where you pay $79. a year and get 2 day shipping without paying extra for it, AND you can borrow 12 eBooks a year for FREE, not to forget, that you can download unlimited movies and television series to your kindle fire for……yes, I am going to say that F word again……..FREE!)  really make out with the Kindle Fire!

Reading on Kindle Fire

White or black background makes it easy to see!

The Kindle Fire offers many benefits that no other reader comes even close to. My husband surprised me with mine last November and I haven’t looked back since. In fact, I was thinking that I can’t imagine what I did before I got it. I wanted one, but never thought he’d buy me one and not tell me. Here is my post about it on my blog last November, My New Kindle Fire. I didn’t know too much about it yet when I wrote that post. Now I do!

Kindle Fire

It only weighs 14.6 ounces!

I love how I can read books at night and not have a light on. Most of all, I can read longer because unlike paper books, my eyes feel no strain. Even at my age! You know how paperbacks get yellowed, and you have to really strain to see the words on the page? Even with a light on, I had trouble reading for very long. Now I can read for hours. The backlit screen can be adjust from bright to dim. I keep mine on the dimmest because it is too bright for my eyes. You can also adjust the size of the fonts easily so they are as big as you need.

The Kindle Fire is not heavy at all. I have seen where people say they are too heavy to hold for long periods. Not at all. Plus you can easily put it on your lap or a table to read. Of course, I read mine in bed! LOL I really can’t think of one bad thing to say about it. Still, after all this time. I highly recommend it!

UPDATE: My Kindle Fire is still working great for me after four years of continuous use. It has been replaced on Amazon though, by more than a few new models. This is the newest one and has the best reviews and is a bestseller at this time, December 2015, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
